Nineteen al Shabaab terrorists were on Wednesday killed by KDF soldiers under AMISOM in Afmadhow.
KDF Spokesperson Colonel David Obonyo said the militants had approached the camp at night with the intent to attack and cut off the Somali National Army from the Amisom (KDF) camp.
“KDF soldiers on patrol identified the militants and engaged them in a fierce battle, the militants attempted to fight back, but were swiftly repulsed by KDF,” Obonyo said.
He said the Amisom troops foiled the 1am planned attack by Al Shabaab terrorists near the AMISOM and Somali National Army Camps in Afmadhow, in the Lower Juba Region.
Ten AK47 rifles and 3 pocket propelled grenades were recovered and one technical vehicle was also destroyed.
There were no casualties from the Kenyan side.
