The Somali federal president HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamed has appreciated the Somali military force with their hardworking task though they are lack of salary and financial support.
The president admits that The Somali National Forces supported by African Union military ruled out and pushed the ability of al shabaab in most of Somali regions and added that they will take up rest of the regions.
Several times different parts of Somali forces complained luck of salary and Somali government repeated the salary will pay on time.
Somali Police forces recently received one month of their salary after missed several months, also National Intelligence and Security Agency ( NISA) haven’t get still any salary while Somali Military didn’t take six month of their salary.
In September 30, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said the Somali troops on the frontlines work tirelessly to fight Al-Shabaab and provide security and stability for the country.”Our government has a duty of care to pay our troops, and to do so in a regular, accountable and transparent manner,” the President said.”A functioning and effective payroll system is central to the building of national security sector architecture and I am pleased to see the coming together of key government ministries and the army to make this happen,” he added.
One of the military said: “What’s worse than us not receiving salary, is that our leaders publicly claim on media outlets that we get paid”’
An unpublished report by a U.N. monitoring group seen by Reuters suggests corruption was one reason for non-payment of wages. In the report, the group accuses senior Somali military commanders of inflating troop numbers and embezzling funds bound for salaries.
