Consequences continue to roll out after members of the bicameral parliament disrupted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s state of the nation (SOTN) address
– Another member of Parliament, Timothy Bosire, has sued the government for withdrawing his security following the SOTN speech
– He had however refused to rise for a two minute silence in honor of fallen Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers from an al-Shabaab attack in Somalia earlier this year
A Member of Parliament (MP) who refused to rise in honor of the fallen KDF soldiers from the El- Adde al-Shabaab attack on January 15, 2106 has sued the government after his security was withdrawn.
It was during the State of the Nation address in the bicameral parliament that President Uhuru Kenyatta called on the lawmakers to rise and observe a two minute silence in honor of the Kenya Defense Forces that Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire refused to heed the call.
According to the Daily Nation, Bosire said that the move exposed his life to risks as his security was withdrawn without any communication being forwarded to him.
“I did not stand up during the President’s speech on March 31 because I did not want to appease the public and sweep under the carpet the plight of KDF soldiers in Somalia,” said Bosire in defense.
