During a meeting with U.S. members of Congress in January, the leader said the refugee crisis in Europe was not an accident and neither was the infiltration of terrorists hiding among them, according to Middle East Eye.
“The fact that terrorists are going to Europe is part of Turkish policy and Turkey keeps on getting a slap on the hand, but they are let off the hook,” he said.
Abdullah also claimed Turkey was getting oil from ISIS.
The remarks were made on January 11. The next day Abdullah was supposed to talk with President Obama, but the meeting was cancelled by the administration, which cited “scheduling conflicts”. Instead, Obama exchanged greetings with the Jordanian leader, one of the U.S.’s biggest allies, at Joint Base Andrews.
Abdullah thinks Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan is motivated by the belief in a “radical Islamic solution to the region”.
